Privacy Policy

At PrayU, we believe prayer is personal. This policy explains what information we collect when you use our app, how we use it, and how we keep it safe. We keep things simple — your privacy matters to us.

Information We Collect

When you create an account or use PrayU, we collect:

•Email address — used to create and manage your account.

•Name and username — to identify you to friends and, if you join one, your church.

•Profile details you choose to add — a photo and a few facts about yourself.

•What you write in the app — prayer requests, praise reports, comments, and journal entries.

•Who you connect with — your friend list and, if you join one, your church.

•Your prayer plan progress — which plans you start and which days you complete.

•A device token, if you allow notifications — so we can send the pushes you asked for. You can turn notifications off at any time in the app or in your phone's settings.

•Basic usage data — which features you use and when you last opened the app, so we know what to improve.

We do not collect precise location data. If your church subscribes, payment information is processed securely by Stripe and is never stored on our servers.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

•Create and maintain your account.

•Show your prayers to the people you chose to share them with.

•Let you add friends and, if you want, join a church community.

•Send the notifications you have turned on — someone praying for you, a friend's new request, a reminder about a prayer plan, the verse of the day.

•Keep track of where you are in a prayer plan.

•Send important account messages, such as password resets.

•Improve app performance and fix problems.

We will never use your information for purposes unrelated to providing the PrayU service.

What You Post, and Who Sees It

Every time you post in PrayU, you choose who it goes to:

•Friends — only people you have added as friends.

•My church — members of the church you have joined.

•Everyone — anyone using PrayU.

You can also post anonymously, which hides your name from the post.

Your prayer journal is private. Nobody else can see it — not your friends, not your church, not your pastor.

Your profile can be public or private, and you can change it any time in Account Settings. A private profile means only friends can see your posts and details.

Please be thoughtful about what you include in a prayer you share. You are responsible for the content you choose to post, and anything shared with "Everyone" can be seen by any PrayU user.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information — ever.

Nothing you write in PrayU is shared with advertisers. Your prayer requests, praise reports, comments, journal entries, and friend list are never sent to any advertising company, and are never used to target ads at you or anyone else.

We share information only in these limited circumstances:

•Service providers — trusted partners who help us run the app, such as cloud hosting (Supabase), payment processing for churches (Stripe), and Apple and Google for delivering push notifications. They are bound by confidentiality agreements.

•Advertising measurement — the PrayU iPhone app includes Meta's software kit so we can tell whether our ads actually lead to installs. It reports one thing: that the app was installed or opened, along with basic device information. We have turned off advertising-identifier collection, and PrayU never shows you an "Allow tracking" prompt, because we do not track you across other apps or websites. No content from inside PrayU is sent.

•Legal requirements — if we are required to by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

Account Deletion

You have the right to delete your account and associated data at any time.

You can delete your account directly in the app by going to Settings → Delete Account. Your account, profile, and all associated content will be permanently removed immediately.

Note: Some information may be retained for a limited period to comply with legal obligations or resolve disputes.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. Your account is protected by a password, and we encourage you to use a strong, unique password and keep it private.

While we work hard to secure your data, no system is completely invulnerable. If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact us immediately.

Children's Privacy

PrayU is intended for users who are 13 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has created an account, please contact us and we will promptly delete their information.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. If changes are significant, we will notify you through the app or via email.

Continued use of PrayU after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
