For Pastors

Write a prayer plan for PrayU

Prayer plans are short, day-by-day guides that help people pray through something they are carrying — anxiety, grief, a big decision. We would love for you to write one. This page tells you exactly what to send us.

How a plan reads

Every day is four short pages

People read one day at a time, usually in a few quiet minutes. Each day opens like a small book and turns through these four pages in order.

PAGE 1

Scripture

The passage for the day, quoted in full, with its reference.

PAGE 2

Reflection

A short word from you on what the passage shows about how to pray.

PAGE 3

Prayer

A prayer the reader prays in their own voice, shaped by the passage.

PAGE 4

Journal

One question they carry into their journal for the day.

What to write

The plan, then one block per day

Write it in whatever you like — a doc, notes, an email — then paste it into the form below. Here is every piece we need, in order.

1. The plan

What people see before they start.

Title
2–6 words
Name the struggle or the hope, plainly. When You Are Anxious. Praying Through Grief. Waiting on God.
Tagline
One line
A single sentence that tells someone what they will do. Seven prayers for a restless heart.
Description
2–3 sentences
Why this plan exists and who it is for. Speak to the reader, not about them.
Category
Pick 1–3
The feeling or need the plan meets: Anxiety, Grief, Loneliness, Fear, Peace, Comfort, Hope, Trust — or suggest a new one.
Length
Days
Anything from 3 to 14 days. Seven is the sweet spot: long enough to form a habit, short enough to finish.
Thumbnail
Optional
A square image (800×800 px, JPG or PNG) with no text on it — the app lays the title over it. Or tick the box in the form and we will design one for you.

2. Each day — same structure every time

Day 1, Day 2, Day 3… each one has these seven parts.

Day title
3–6 words
What this day is about. Tell God the Truth. Cast It on Him.
Voice
One name or theme
Whose prayer the day follows — David, Paul, Hannah, Jesus, Job, Mary — someone in Scripture who prayed this before us. If the day is not built around a person, a theme works: Gratitude.
Reference
Book chapter:verses
Where the passage is. Psalm 55:1–2, 22. One passage per day; short is better.
Scripture
The passage, quoted
The verses themselves, word for word. Tell us which translation you used in the form; we prefer a public-domain translation (KJV, WEB) or the NIV.
Reflection
60–120 words
How this person prayed and what it teaches us about praying today. Warm, plain, second person (“you”), no jargon. One idea, not three.
Prayer
60–120 words
A prayer the reader prays in their own words — first person, addressed to God, shaped like the passage. Leave a blank (___) where they should say their own thing. End with Amen.
Journal prompt
1–2 sentences
One question or instruction they carry into their journal. Concrete beats abstract: Write the fear down in one plain sentence.

A finished day

What one day looks like written out

Day 1 of a plan that is already in the app. Match this shape and length and you are there.

Day title
When You Are Anxious — Day 1: Tell God the Truth
Voice
David
Reference
Psalm 55:1–2, 22
Scripture
Give ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself from my supplication. Attend unto me, and hear me: I mourn in my complaint, and make a noise… Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee.
Reflection
David does not begin calm. He begins with noise — “I mourn in my complaint.” He names the fear before he asks for anything. The first move in an anxious prayer is not to fix the feeling but to tell God the truth about it.
Prayer
God, hear me. I am not going to pretend I am fine. This is what I am afraid of: ___. I am carrying it right now, and it is heavy. You said to cast it on You — so here it is, in Your hands and not mine. Sustain me today. Amen.
Journal prompt
Write the fear down in one plain sentence. Then write what you would say to a friend carrying it.

Writing guidelines

A few things that make a plan work

Write to one person

Use “you”, not “we” or “believers”. The reader is alone with their phone, often at the start or end of a hard day.

Keep each day on its own feet

Someone may open Day 4 first. Every day should make sense without the others.

Let the passage carry the weight

The reflection points at the Scripture; it does not replace it. One idea per day.

Plain words, warm tone

No church jargon, no scolding. Say the hard thing kindly. Short sentences are fine.

For everyone on PrayU

Plans are shared across the whole app, not just your church, so avoid local names, events and inside references.

Your own writing

Please send original work. Quoting Scripture is expected; copying from published devotionals is not.

Mind the lengths

Reflection and prayer around 60–120 words each. The app is read on a phone; a wall of text stops people.

Clean language

PrayU rejects swearing everywhere in the app, including plans.

About thumbnails. Square, 800×800 px, JPG or PNG, under 5 MB. Keep it a photo or texture with no words on it — the app writes the plan title over the image, so text would clash. Not a designer? Leave it to us: tick “Please design one for us” in the form.

Send it in

Submit your plan

Paste each part into its box. Your work saves in this browser as you go, so you can come back to it.
